The Santa Clara University Scuba Club is a registered student organization at Santa Clara University; it's managed and run by SCU students for SCU students. We provide 3 primary services to our members. First, we provide a forum for certified divers to network with other certified divers. Second, we provide a learning path, allowing students to become certified, refresh their certifications, and advance their certification. And third, we establish discounts and special offers with local dive shops and boat charters to keep members diving as inexpensively and often as possible.

Article 1 – Name
Santa Clara Scuba Club
Article 2 - Purpose
The Santa Clara University Scuba Club is a registered student organization at Santa Clara University; it's managed and run by SCU students for SCU students. We provide 3 primary services to our members. First, we provide a forum for certified divers to network with other certified divers. Second, we provide a learning path, allowing students to become certified, refresh their certifications, and advance their certification. And third, we establish discounts and special offers with local dive shops and boat charters to keep members diving as inexpensively and often as possible.
Article 3 – Membership
Section 1: Any registered student (Full or Part Time) at SCU who is in good standing with the University and Fulfilling the membership requirements of the organization may be a member.
Section 2: Requirements for membership simply include and interest in scuba diving or other aspects of the ocean and its wildlife and habitats.
Section 3: In order to guarantee equal rights for all members of the Santa Clara student body, equal opportunities shall be afforded to all students with regard to race, color, national and/or ethnic origin, religion, creed, gender, marital affiliation, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, nationality, veteran status, and physical disability.
Section 4: Classification of Members will fall into Certified (training Scuba Diver), Pending (Diver in training or planning to be in training in the future), and Alumni (Member of the club that have graduated)
Section 5: Privileges of Membership include receiving regular information about the club and club activities. Having access to club trips and events as well as access to discounts and other benefits of club membership provided by our sponsors.
Article 4 – Officers
Section 1: Officers of the Santa Clara Scuba Club Include President, Vice-President, Chief of Finances and Fundraiser
Section 2: Qualificantions for Holding office include being a PADI or other nationally accepted form of certification Diver as well as being an SCU Undergraduate Student that is maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
Section 3: Officers will serve year long terms unless otherwise necessary due to extrenuating circumstances.
Section 4: Duties of the Officers include helping with the training of new divers, assisting in club events and activities along with doing ether essential tasks for the club to run as efficiently and safely as possible.
Section 5: Should a Vacancy in office occur it will be filled by the best suited volunteer for the position or will be appointed by the remaining officers under the discretion of the President or nearest ranked officer.
Section 6: Executive Leadership Positions within the club are considered President, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Dive Master.
Article 5 – Meetings
Section 1: Meetings Shall be called as are deemed necessary by the executive officers.
Section 2: Meeting shall be called for major events of the club and other situations where information is necessary to be giving to club members.
Article 6 – Finances
Section 1: Finances for the Fiscal year will be calculated on an event by event bases.
Section 2: The Club requires no dues for membership
Section 3: This Organization shall operate on a non-profit basis
Article 7 – Ratification and Enactment
This organization shall become the official governing document of the organization, upon ratification by a Two-Thirds majority vote of the membership, and approval and acceptance by the appropriate recognizing body of SCU. Amendment and Ratification to this constitution shall require a Two-Thirds majority vote to be in effect.
